How to scan a QR code on iPhone

Every modern iPhone can read a QR code straight from the Camera app, and a dedicated scanner adds history, barcode support, and hands-free scanning. Here's how to do each.

Scan with the built-in Camera

1. Open the Camera app and point the rear camera at the QR code.
2. Hold steady so the whole code is inside the frame and in focus.
3. Wait for the link to appear at the bottom of the screen.
4. Tap the link to open it, or to take whatever action the code contains.

Scan with Scan QR Code Master

1. Open Scan QR Code Master and allow camera access the first time you're asked.
2. Point the camera at the QR code — the app detects and reads it automatically.
3. Review the result, then open, copy, or share it in a tap.
4. Find it later in your scan history, so you never lose a code you scanned.

Scan from Control Center

1. Open Control Center. If you don't see the Scan Code control, add it to Control Center first.
2. Tap the Scan Code button, then position iPhone so that the code appears on the screen.
3. Tap the flashlight if you need more light.
