QR code not scanning? How to fix it
When a QR code won't scan, it's almost always the camera setup, the lighting, or the code itself. Work through these and one of them will fix it.
Fixes to try, in order
- On iPhone, check Settings › Camera and make sure Scan QR Codes is turned on.
- Use the rear camera, and clean the lens — a smudge blurs the code.
- Move so the whole code is in frame, then adjust distance: too close won't focus, too far loses detail.
- Add light. Low light and glare are the most common reasons a code fails; move to a brighter spot or tilt to kill the reflection.
- If it still won't read, open Scan QR Code Master — a dedicated scanner handles small, dense, or low-contrast codes the Camera app struggles with.
If the code itself is the problem
- Low contrast (light-on-light, or a busy background) makes a code unreadable — codes need clear dark modules on a light background.
- A missing 'quiet zone' (white margin) around the code can stop it scanning.
- A torn, wrinkled, or partly covered code may have lost too much data to recover.
- A code shown on a screen can flicker or glare; try increasing that screen's brightness.

- Why does my phone see the QR code but nothing happens?
