How to scan a QR code on a Mac

A Mac doesn't have a rear camera to point at a code, but you'll usually meet QR codes on a Mac as images — in an email, on a web page, or in a document. The quickest way to read one is with your iPhone.

Scan a code on your Mac's screen

  1. Show the QR code on your Mac's screen, zoomed in if it's small.
  2. Open the Camera app on your iPhone and point it at the code.
  3. Tap the link that appears at the bottom of your iPhone's screen.

Get the result back on your Mac

If you need the link on your Mac, open it on your iPhone and send it to your Mac with AirDrop.
