A QR code can't harm your phone by itself — it's just stored data. The risk is what it links to. Scammers sometimes put codes that lead to fake login pages or sketchy downloads ('quishing'). A little care makes scanning safe.

How to scan safely

  1. Read the link before opening it — iPhone's Camera shows it at the bottom of the screen and only opens it when you tap.

  3. Look at the domain carefully; watch for misspellings or odd endings that imitate a real brand.
